Michel Martelly and Discharge for former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe

Michel Martelly and Discharge for former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe

President Michel Martelly found himself in a complicated situation as many in the political environment is looking on whether or not he will issue a Decree of Discharge for his friend former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe

President Martelly cannot wait longer. He must decide and act before the deadline for registering nomination arrives. So far there is a long list of former Senators, Deputies and others who have managed public funds, and have been qualified to contest. There is a mandate in the Haitian election law that restricts Lamothe from contesting for the moment and that goes as----" to be elected as a President, a candidate must have been discharged of responsibilities if previously handling public funds." The Superior Court of Audits and Administrative Disputes (CSCCA) has noticed many anomalies in the files of former prime ministers Jean-Max Bellerive and Laurent Lamothe. Thus, Martelly has to make the decision whether to issue decrees so that his friend, former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe get "discharge" and can run for the Presidency. But the task is now many times harder than before.

Commission calls for resignation of Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe

Commission calls for resignation of Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe

President Michel Martelly received officially the result of the consultative commission on December 9, 2014

Haiti commission calling for Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe to resign. In addition, other recommendations were made, including that the Supreme Court president and all the present Provisional Electoral Council members also resign before December 25, 2014. It must be noted that no recommendation was put forward that coincided with the opposition's solution of the President himself stepping down. There was a similar call, however, for a number of political prisoners held at random, and who have not yet been put before a judge, to be released at once.

All this was announced at a press conference at which the President stated that there wasn't a sacrifice too high he was unwilling to make for the country. He presented the commission's recommendations and said he would have to think over it for the next two days. Prime Minister Lamothe was noticeably missing from this conference.

Michel Martelly - Mateli Papa BonKe For Delivering Christmas Gifts

Here is a sign that a fan of Martelly was carrying during the visit of the president to deliver Christmas gifts t the population. The sign says Mateli Papa BonKe

This obviously looks like I am living at the time when Duvalier was in power and where people were obligated to carry these signs of propaganda.

Propaganda is generally an appeal to emotion, not intellect. This form of communication from the Haitian government was used frequently to influence the attitude of the population toward a cause. These biased messages had only one purpose to encourage participation and belief in the regime.
