Here is picture of the actual election result between Dr. Smith Joseph and former North Miami Mayor Kevin Burns. As a political new comer Smith Joseph beats out two-time former North Miami Mayor Kevin Burns for the mayoral seat vacated by Lucie Tundreau.

Edging out the former Mayor of North Miami, Dr. Smith Joseph won the seat as a first-time political runner after the suspension of the past mayor Lucie Tondreau. A registered pharmacist at the start of his career, Dr. Joseph continued his studies and fulfilled his goal of becoming a doctor of medicine and opened his own clinic in the North Miami area. The road to his election was not a quiet one, taking place amidst the uncertainty of a runoff and on the heels of the former mayor's suspension, but at the end, the results from the 21 precincts list him as the winner over former mayor Kevin Burns.

Urinating in the Street in Haiti

The unsuspecting traveler to Haiti may be in for quite a shock when he or she notices for the first few times Haitian men, women and children relieving themselves on the side of the roads. While most will not know what to take away from this, public urination is quite common in Haiti where there are no public restroom facilities. While travelers are prompted to use the toilets in restaurants and hotels, Haitians will use nature with some women even dressing for the eventuality.

Here is a picture of Rodneyse Bichotte. She became the first Haitian-American woman to be elected to the New York State Assembly. Not only did she win, she did it by a landslide with 90 percent of the votes over Republican Matthew Williams and Conservative Brian Kelly.

The 42nd Assembly District, the largest Haitian community in New York City, has appointed one of its own as District Leader, making Statecommittee woman Rodneyse Bichotte the first ever woman of Haitian-American birth to be elected in New York City. Using her enviable educational background, Bichotte worked as an investment banker then tackled city issues like finding funding for healthcare, education and job programs. The busy Bichotte sits on the Habitat for Humanity NYC board, among others, and her new appointment sees her representing the communities of Midwood, Ditmas Park, Flatbush and East Flatbush.

On August 8, 2014, a visit was made to Leo Express Cleaner in Little Haiti to review the quality of its services. The business has been serving the Haitian community for several years. It is located at: 8272 N.E. 2nd Ave. in Miami.

Leo Express Cleaner advertises that it provides same day cleaning services. For Dry Cleaner, it provides adequate services to its clients.

On the day of my visit, as I entered the business, someone who was working in the back, came quickly to help me and had a great smile. Although the place was some what crowded and had limited space, there were no apparent health and safety hazards observed during the visit.

Located on the North side of Little Haiti in Florida, It's Me. Hair Boutique with several years serving the Haitian Community.

I had a chance to visit their location in August, 2014 to review the quality of the services there. It's Me. Hair Boutique is a unisex Beauty Salon and Barber Shop. For the ladies, they are specialized in Hair, Nails and wax. They do in Afro, hair, hair cut, perm, facial, manucure, pedicure, blow cuts, eyebrow arching. For the men, you can get all styles of hair cut and styles.

On the day of my visit, which was a Saturday, things were pretty packed both inside and outside. Finding a parking there on a Saturday is a challenge as many Haitians come on that day from all over the area to do their shopping. On the inside, it appears that it is very well known in the community and has many regular customers.

The staff at It's Me. Hair Boutique have good customer service skills. Upon my arrival, I was able to get the necessary information with courtesy and friendliness.
