On August 8, 2014, I had a chance to visit Airline Ticketing Center in Little Haiti to evaluate how they have been delivering services to their consumers. It is located in a great location, at the corner of 82nd Street and 2nd Avenue, NE. This is considered a prime location for business in the Little Haiti area as many Haitians see first thing as they travel in the busy NE 2nd Avenue. You just can't miss it.

The appearance was very impressive at Airline Ticketing Center in Little Haiti. You enter a room clean and well organized. There are plenty of space to seat while waiting for the next available agent to serve you. Don't worry about it, you will not have to wait that long anyway. This site is really not crowded. While I was there, it did not take me even thirty seconds for someone to ask me how she could help me.

Although I received prompt and quick services at Airline Ticketing Center in Little Haiti, the reception was far from being warmth. Like many other Haitian businesses, Airline Ticketing Center in Little Haiti suffers from lack of customer service skills. It was not long before I realized that the person who was serving me was not willing to go out of her way to help. Instead, she was ready to refer me to the next staff member just for a simple question. In addition, they were not able to give me a business card.

This is not surprising and for a Haitian business in little Haiti, that is considered to be normal. The Haitian customer usually does not ask for much and sometime forget that they are the one keeping these people in business.

The Center for Haitian Studies, Health, and Human Services, Inc. (CHS) was created following the confusion about the causes AIDS epidemic in the 1980s. Haitians were one of the group of people unjustly labeled as high risk for AIDS and also for the transmission of the disease. Haitians in turn felt at the time that they were victims of this because of their status as immigrants and black. The felt that the larger society did not want them to be in the United States.

With the creation of the Center for Haitian Studies, Haitians were more willing to seek help there as this was a Haitian facility witht e goal to help Haitians. The Haitian who were affected by the AIDS virus were more willing to come to such a facility to get treatment.

From those early and shaky beginning, Center for Haitian Studies has managed to become a real actor in the lives of many Haitians in Miami-Dade county as well as to other ethnic community of South Florida.

The Center for Haitian Studies is now considered one of the few successful counseling program for Haitian Americans affected by HIV/AIDS. On August 11, 2014 I visited Corena Unisex Beauty Salon, Inc. and was pleasantly welcomed by a friendly staff. The business is located in the North East Part of Little Haiti in Miami, Florida. This is a shopping center with over 90 percent of the customers are Haitians.

Parking for Corena Unisex Beauty Salon, Inc. is ok most of the time as long as you are willing to park on NE 2nd Avenue. You also need to be careful as this is a main street and heavy traffic. I came to the business when it was not too busy and I parked with relative ease.

The staff at Corena Unisex Beauty Salon, Inc. was somewhat welcoming. However, I did not see the great attention to me from the staff that would want me to comeback to such a place. There was nothing special. It was just another Barber shop and Beauty Salon combined. For men, Corena Unisex Beauty Salon, Inc. doesman's Haircut, Razor Shave, Kids Haircut, razor neck shave, style cuts, brush fade, bald fade, buzz cut, flat top and Mustache Trimming. We just learned that Jean-Mary Gabriel, one of the hosts of the popular show Matin Caraibe is Dead. He passed away on the night between October 11 and 13 at his residence

Jean Marie Gabriel has been providing humor on the show Matin Caraïbes on Radio Caraïbes FM, 94.5 for several years. He died at home in Petion-Ville after suffering from a respiratory problem. Jean-Mary Gabriel is well known on the show for bringing fun to the show. He was also an actor and made several Radio advertisements
