Antoine Simon, President of Haiti
Here is a picture of the Haitian PresidenFrancois C. Antoine Simon. He was born on 10 October 1843 in the city of Les Cayes in the South. The date of his death is not certain; however he died either on 10 January or 10 March 1923 in Les Cayes.
Antoine Simon was originally from the town of Savane. He was a police officer and then went to the Haitian army as an officer.
General Francois Capois, Capoix-la-Mort
History reported that Haitian General Francois Capois, Capoix-la-Mort mounted on his great horse, led his brigade despite storms of bullets from Vertieres forts. During the process, his horse was hit by a cannon and fell. General Francois Capois, Capoix-la-Mort took his sword and ran again to the head of his soldiers shouting always "Forward! Forward".

It involves troop commanded by General Rochambeau against General Jean-Jacques Dessalines troups
The date is November 18, 1803 when General Jean-Jacques Dessalines ordered François Capois (Capois lamort) Brigade to take Fort Vertières. Capois-La-Mort asked his force to follow him, shouting: "Forward! Forward".

The Gede Lwa are some of the most interesting, funny, spirits in the Vodou tradition.
Léogâne, the epicenter of the 7.0 magnitude Earthquake
Léogâne was at the epicenter of the 7.0 magnitude 12 January 2010 earthquake
Léogâne's second bout with an earthquake measuring 7.0 or higher on the Richter scale was more devastating for the small town than it was for anywhere else in Haiti. Between 80-90% of the infrastructure, including all government buildings, a precious school and part of a hospital were lost.
Léogâne is the birthplace of the Taíno queen Anacaona
Before the town was giving the name, Léogâne, it was called by its name from the Amerindian's, Yaguana. A fascinating part of its history is that it was the place where Anacaona, a Taino queen, was born. It was also the hometown of the wife of Jean-Jacques Dessalines, a Haitian revolutionary, Marie-Claire Heureuse Félicité. Also from Léogâne, having been stationed there as a military officer, was the man who led the resistance against the U.S. starting in 1915, Charlemagne Péralte.
