New Chief Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince, Me Rene Francisco
A new authority is in town. The new Government Commissioner of Haiti, Me René Francisco, started this new job in August, 2013 and immediately, the controversies followed him.
Many people in the Haitian society estimated that Me René Francisco takes control of the prosecutor of Port-au-Prince to help the government of Michel Martelly to start a repressive machinery against the opposition.
Me Francisco René replaced Me Lucmane Delille in office since October 30, 2012 as the new Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince. the appointment was made by Jean Renel Sanon, the Minister of Justice.
This position of Government Commissioner has recently become one with the highest turnover rate in this government. Me Francisco René became the 9th Commissioner of Government under the government of Martelly. Telecommunication Council (CONATEL)Reveals Fees Paid by Phone Companies
National Council of Telecommunications gave a reckoning of taxes paid and forthcoming to National Fund for Education (FNE).
Telecommunication companies, Comcel, Digicel, and Natcom rendered a total of $58 million USD. Still to be paid are $5 million USD from them all. Central Bank also gave an accounting of $78.4 million USD in transfer fees.
Monies are to be used by FNE for a public education system. Before being released, Parliament must ratify a bill dictating disbursement of monies for the project.

Benedict Batraville Opposes U.S. Marine Invasion
Benoit Batraville was a Haitian army commander who was thought a puppet military leader the U.S. Marines could control. Because of his intellect and former ties to murdered insurgent leader Charlemagne Peralte, Congress appointed him commander thinking he would help them extend their territory during the U.S. Occupation.
But Batraville was secretly an insurgent leader and foiled the Marines attempt to occupy more of Haiti. They finally located Batraville on the Central Plateau and assassinated him in 1920.
Fuego del Sol's Affordable Cooking Method
Fuego del Sol (FDS) has partnered with International Lifeline Fund to market a new cooking fuel. Instead of expensive charcoal, paper briquettes use recycled paper, cardboard, and farmland waste to create this cooking method.
FDS has sold 200,000-plus briquettes to the World Food Program. And it has claimed the rescue of 8,000 trees from decimation.
The Haiti school system is a market segment FDS wants to convert to its sustainable practice, which will bring the rest of the island with it.
Fuego del Sol Introduces Green Cooking Solution
Fuego del Sol (FDS) is providing an option to cutting down trees for cooking fuel. Estimates of deforestation in Haiti run as high as 96%. Deforestation causes exposed topsoil to be washed away during storms, leeching minerals from the ground and ruining crops.
FDS produces clean-burning fuel from recycled paper products as well as green stoves. Confident once institutions have experienced the benefits of this alternative cooking method, word will spread around the island.
