In 1994 Nelson Mandela became the President of South Africa after the first multiracial elections that were held in the country. He attempted to get rid of ethnic tensions through the formation of Government of National Unity. He was formed Truth and Reconciliation Commission for proper investigation into the human rights abuses that occurred in the past. He picked up the liberal economic policy of the previous government and made improvements to it in fields of healthcare, poverty combat and land reforms.

When Nelson Mandela joined the African National Congress and joined forces against the apartheid movement of the ruling party, he actually believed in non-violence. However, later he joined forces with South African Communist Party. It is then that he co-founded the Umkhonto we Sizwe - a militant group. The group was founded in 1961 and was responsible for bombing government targets. Nelson Mandela was once against arrested in 1962 under the convictions of sabotaging government property and for conspiring the overthrowing of the ruling government. In Rivonia Trial, Mandela was sentenced for life imprisonment.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela was born to Thembu royal family. Mandela studied from Fort Hare University and then received his law degree from University of Witwatersrand. His involvement with anti-colonial politics started when he was in Johannesburg and then joined the African National Congress and later became one of the founding members of the Youth League of ANC. In 1948, the National Party's Afrikaner nationalists came to power and started implementing apartheid policy against which Mandela stood in Defiance Campaign of 1952 and became a prominent figure.

Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, popularly known as Nelson Mandela served as South African President from 1994 to 1999. He was the first ever South African black to have held that position through the first ever multiracial and fully representative election to be held in the nation. The focus of Mandela government stay concentrated on dismantling of apartheid legacy and the path chosen was that of tackling inequality and poverty, racial reconciliation encouragement and dealing with institutionalized racism. He was politically a democratic socialist and African Nationalist who served as the President of ANC or African National Congress from 1991 to 1997. Mandela also held the position of General Secretary of Non-Aligned Movement for one year from 1998 to 1999.

Nicolas Maduro first official visit to Haiti

Five years after the last visit of former Venezuelan President, late Hugo Chavez, the current head of state of Venezuela, Nicolas Madura paid his first official visit to Haiti. During the visit, Maduro discussed the renewal of special funding for Haiti. Previously, Haiti had received millions of dollars in aid from Venezuela through the PetroCaribe pact that was signed in 2005.

Venezuelan President Nicolas - Alexandre Petion downtown Port-au-Prince

The head of state of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, officially toured Haiti for the first time after becoming President. It was his first official visit to the Caribbean nation after the former Venezuelan President, late Hugo Chavez visited Haiti in 2007. Maduro spent the entire day with the Haitian President Michel Martelly and the two wore white guayaberas. Both the Presidents were accompanied by their respective wives. Maduro went to downtown Port-au-Prince before reaching the Presidential grounds in Haiti and viewed a statue located in public plaza. He also visited a museum before the official talks between the two Presidents started on the grounds where the National Palace stood before the 2010 earthquake.

Nicolas Maduro, the Venezuelan President, visited Haiti for the first time. It was an official trip that was intended to discuss the scope of Venezuelan aid for Haiti to help Haiti revive from the ruins of 2010 earthquake. Maduro was supposed to visit Haiti in April but the official tour was cancelled because Haitian President Michel Martelly hosted a regional summit that brought together many heads of state.

President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro, visited Haiti to discuss with the Haitian President Michel Martelly to discuss the renewal of special funds that are directed towards the infrastructural growth of Haiti. Venezuela has been the biggest donor since 2010 earthquake that shattered Haiti. Millions of dollars has been used by Haiti from the PetroCaribe pact signed in 2005 with Venezuela. Haitian President Michel Martelly reported that 94% of Haitian development works are funded by the PetroCaribe funds.

The current President of Venezuela, Nicolas Maduro went on his first official visit to Haiti to discuss the renewal of the flow of special funds to aid the impoverished Haitians and help them overcome the consequences of the 2010 earthquake. Maduro said to the reporters that he is representing the former Venezuelan President Hugo Chavez who could to return to Haiti because of his death caused by cancer.

Carnival of Flowers 2013,

After the gala success of the Carnival of Flower in 2012, Haiti is organizing the same even this year that will start on 28th July and end on 30th July. This cultural event will span from Sylvio Cator Stadium to Champ de Mars and will pass through Casernes street and Grand-rue. All arrangements have already been made and the acting Cultural Minister of Haiti, Josette Darguste had a meeting with fashion professionals and various designers to meticulously plan out the event. High security is in place to ensure that event can be concluded with a chaos.
