Andrés Navarro in New Jersey To Stop Haitian Resolution
Here is a picture of the foreign minister of the Dominican Republic, Andrés Navarro. He went to New Jersey in an attempt to dissuade a nonbinding resolution in the state Senate
On Thursday, August 6th, Andrés Navarro, the Foreign Minister of the Dominican Republic visited New Jersey to meet local politicians and dissuade them from passing a nonbinding resolution in the state Senate, which would criticize the Dominican Republic for stripping the citizenship of about 240,000 people who were born in the DR, but their parents were undocumented immigrants. A 2013 ruling of the Constitutional Tribunal of the Dominican Republic (Ruling No. 168-13) retroactively stripped citizenship from as many as 240,000 people born since 1929 to Haitian parents in the Dominican Republic. Following an international outcry, this resolution, sponsored by New Jersey State Senator Raymond Lesniak (D), respectfully urges the Dominican Republic to reinstate the citizenship of those of Haitian descent born in the Dominican Republic.
Grey Pierson visiting Tortuga Island in 1972
Here is a picture of Mr. Grey Pierson he was he was visiting Tortuga Island in 1972.
In 1968, François "Papa Doc" Duvalier needed a radio ship that could transmit his propaganda across the Caribbean and to Latin America. It was then he came into the contact of Don Pierson, a Cadillac dealer from Eastland who had two abandoned radio ships, but both were moored across the Atlantic off the coast of south-east England. Pierson struck a deal of $70 million for the ships and 'Papa Doc' though could not afford to pay the amount, leased Tortuga Island instead in 1972 on condition of equal sharing joint venture between the Haitian government and "Dupont Caribbean Inc". When in July, 2014, the Miami based Carnival Corporation announced its investment plan for US $ 700 million with the Haitian government for constructing a cruise port in the Tortuga island and transform that into a tourist Mecca, nobody was aware that one Texan named Pierson has inherited the absolute right on the island from his father on a 99 year lease contract, dated April 5, 1971. However, subsequent to that date, the Haitian government absolved itself from entire financial and all other responsibilities and granted 99 years exclusive leasehold right and full commercial authority to the Pierson 's corporation as then the Island of Tortuga was a barren place without any road, electricity or public utility services. Pierson's 'Dupont Caribbean Inc' immediately started investment and promotion activities to improve the image of Tortuga Island. As of the agreement "Dupont Caribbean Inc" was given all authority to issue licenses on trading at Tortuga and it has still remained effective.

President Martelly, in his inaugural speech has thanked all who had contributed to this great work. Before the work started, hundreds of buildings, schools, warehouses, churches on Delmas 17 and 9 were demolished to make way for this 550 meter bridge. The people used to stack their salvages on the roadside under the covers of tarpaulin. Not everyone was properly compensated.
Work of Cuban Medical Brigade in Haiti
The Work carried out by the Cuban Medical Brigade in Haiti is only second to none.
Among the many donor nations that helped Haiti in treating the earthquake victims, the name of Cuba with its medical teams will always remain at the forefront. They were the first to set up medical facilities among the debris and to revamp hospitals immediately after the earthquake struck. A medical brigade of 1,200 Cubans with its doctors and nurses had operated all over earthquake-torn and cholera-infected Haiti, they worked non-stop, day and night, with operating rooms open 18 hours a day which could easily put US efforts to shame. The Cuban Medical Brigade is a part of Fidel Castro's international medical mission. It has won the hearts of many socialist and underprivileged nations, but little international recognition.

Haitian Military Leopard Corp In Jean Claude Duvalier reign
Here is a picture to remind you of Haitian Military Leopard Corp during Jean Claude Duvalier reign.
Haitian Military Leopard Corp in Jean Claude Duvalier Reign
In 1973, the former Haitian Dictator Jean-Claude Duvalier ("Baby Doc") created 'Leopards' (Corps des Léopards) a personal security force and counterinsurgency unit. The Leopards counterinsurgency unit was created with the U.S support; its participating members required a higher education level to join. With its creation, it took over most of the functions of Haiti's police force. The Leopard Corps consisting 700-members, a tactical unit was based on the outskirts of the capital in Pétion-ville; it was equipped with relatively modern tool for responding to internal threats. Its counterinsurgency functions were often suppressed. Baby Doc created 'Corps des Léopards' in an attempt to balance two powers between the Haitian Armed Forces and the Tonton Macoutes (became the Volontaires de la Securite Nationale or VSN after 1962). However, 'Corps des Léopards' was disbanded within a month of an attempted coup in 1989.
Joseph Hébert Lucien accused by CEP
Here is a picture of Mr. Joseph Hébert Lucien who was accused by the CEP after the election of August 9, 2015 for leaving his post with materials od the CEP
The Board Department Head of the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) Mr. Lucien Joseph Hébert who was in charge of the production and distribution of election mandates, has been accused by the CEP for abandoning his post in the CEP with some sensitive CEP materials which were supposed to be used for and distributed before the election. While rejecting the accusation, Joseph Lucien has said, he never fled but submitted his resignation on the midnight of August 8. Regarding the mandates, he has stated that the UNDP (United Nations Development Program) delivered a digital printing machine to the CEP on July 8, 2015, however, the Chairman delivered that device to him on August, 1, only. The CEP was supposed to print a total of 800,000 mandates and production unit badges for political party agents and observers. However, a few days before the election, the CEP did realize that they have only 400,000 copies in hand and the hardware, including printers and inks inputs such card stocks were missing. As it was impossible to print the remaining within a short time before the election, he has been made a scapegoat with the responsibility of the August 9 debacle. He left his office with his laptop bag in the presence of several CEP Officials and he handed over the equipment to the administration through his motorcycle driver, who can testify-- he never disappeared with any CEP documents.
He has said that he is not on the run; he is at home, willing to answer and available to the Haitian justice to clarify the situation despite the fact that the electoral institution has already set prosecution against him. In any case, he knows that justice in the country depends on whether you are powerful or helpless and the court judgments will make you white or black accordingly. He resigned from his post mainly because of threats and pressures from few political parties like the Fusion of Social Democrats and the Consortium of political parties. He intends to file a complaint against the leaders of these political parties.
