What you are looking at is a building that was used by Dauphin Plantation in North of Haiti for the production of Sisal and Fiber Rope.

Since Dauphin Plantation was the main employer of the region of Caracol and the entire North section of Haiti, when the company closed, the entire region suffered.

After its independence, Haiti was unable to trade with the rest of the world. The Haitian coffee couldn't be sold in the world's market until 1830s in Europe and 1960s in the United States.

Here is a picture of the region in Haiti that will directly benefit from the new Haiti Northern Industrial Park. Haiti will see its first new industrial park by june 2012. Recently, The Haitian Government, with the Inter-American Development Bank, the Korean apparel company Sae-A, as well as the U.S. Government signed a memorandum of understanding to start the construction of the first new industrial park in the north of Haiti.
