Caracol Industrial Park is not considered the first industrial park in North of Haiti or even in Caracol. Dauphin Plantation was the first, specialized in the production of Sisal and Fiber Rope

At the beginning of the 19th century, Dauphin Plantation was the largest employer in Haiti, providing jobs to over two thousands people. Most of the job involved the pressing of Sisal Plants for the production of fiber ropes and other products.

Here is a picture of early Haiti currency

The first Haitian coin or centime to be in circulation was silver piece. There were a variety of them. The pieces came in various denominations such as: 6, 12 and 25 centimes. 50 and 100 centimes came later in 1827.

Here is a picture of a woman carryin a load on her head. Maost women in Haiti are the bread winners for the family. As the number of jobs is very limited, many women end up doing both the work at home and outside to support the family

This is a picture of haiti currency.

The first reevaluation of the Haitian currency was conducted in 1870. The Haitian gourde was revalued based on the market at the time. Ten gourdes were reevaluated and valued at one gourde. The notes were in denominations of 10 and 25 gourdes.
