Over 56,000 Haitian Students Attending School In Dominican Republic
Haitian children attending school in Dominican Republic
Since 2010, the number of foreign students in Dominican pre-universities and universities whether it is private, semi-public or public, has been increased significantly and the majority of them are Haitians. At the pre-university level, out of the total 67,000 students, 44,000 (65.7%) students are Haitian and more than 12,000 Haitian students are presently studying in Dominican Universities. The statistics as per 2013 Planning Department of the Ministry of Education Dominican, on the number of Haitian students studying at Pre-university schools reveal that: in public school 37,567, private schools 6,148, and semi-official 595. The percentage of foreign students from 25 countries in the DR is 34.3% and its leading contributors are: United States (12,519), Spain (1,753), Puerto Rico (1,468) and that is followed by other countries like Venezuela, Italy, Cuba, Panama, Germany, China, Peru, Denmark, Russia, Brazil and 560 students come from other countries for a grand total of 67.423 foreign students (pre-university sector).
First Promotion of Institute of Hotel and Tourist Training of Les Cayes

On Sunday, March 15, 2015, the first 71 promotion graduates from the Institute of Hotel and Tourist Training of Les Cayes (IFORHT South) were given their certificates after completing their training course in tourist reception. Stéphanie Balmir Villedrouin, the Haitian Minister of Tourism and Creative Industries who was present during the ceremony, while congratulating the young graduates, paid tribute to the dynamism of Karine Condé, for her enormous contribution to realize the project successfully. IFORHT South, teaches courses on tourist reception, operates in two shifts (morning and evening). By the academic year 2015-2016, the institute will provide students with specializations in kitchen, pastry and bakery with introduction of courses in foreign languages.

Varkey Gems Foundation, a global education foundation, is set to award a $1 million prize to the best teacher in the world. Haitian teacher Guy Etienne is one of 10 finalists in the 2015 competition.
Etienne will be judged by a 67-member jury on three major criteria: how he inspires the minds of his students; how he makes contributions within his community, and how he motivates students to pursue teaching as a profession.

Mont Sinai school near Port Salut

Surrounded by beautiful, verdant peaks flush with fruit trees and clean air, the Mont Sinai school found near Port Salut appears as a series of blue-topped buildings in the midst of greenery. Built as an answer to the devastation that was the 2010 earthquake, Mont Sinai school is one of 15 recently inaugurated through the collaborative effort of UNICEF and the Ministry of Education in Haiti. Highlighting how timely the build is, it will be the first time plenty of children in the surrounding area will be attending school, and it also means a shorter road to education for many.
Digicel Foundation Opens its 150th School in Haiti

At the opening of the 150th school built in Haiti by the Digicel Foundation, the company's founder, Dennis O'Brien addressed those present at Ecole Nationale de Grande Savane's grand opening by outlining the direction needed to secure Haiti a brighter future. The company's focus on education, with investments into these new school facilities costing many millions of dollars, was not by chance. According to O'Brien, Haiti's very future is heavily dependent on the investment into children and education people can make today. Putting money where his mouth is, O'Brien announced that the company will be continuing the project with a new 2-year programme.
Lycée Jean-Marie Vincent,Tabarre

On Tuesday, the 14th October, Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education inaugurated the new buildings of the Lycée Jean-Marie Vincent in Tabarre. He was accompanied by Dr. Ahmed Mohamed Ali, President of the Islamic Development Bank (IDB), who have financed the reconstruction work through an NGO named "Islamic Relief Worldwide". The new facility has been constructed with the most strict construction norms, and it consists 20 classrooms of whom 16 were newly constructed, a computer lab, library, playgrounds, a conference room, a secretariat, office space and a censorship. We should remember that, including the present one, the IDB has so far rebuilt or rehabilitated four schools in the town of Croix-des-Bouquets. The Minister Manigat took the opportunity to thank and welcomed the contribution of the IDB for providing a better learning environment to the thousands of Haitian students. Dr. Ali in his speech said that his philanthropic institution considers education a priority and reiterated their commitment to support the education sector in Haiti.
Children in school in Boucan Carre

Before 2004, the town of Boucan Carre did not have much in term of facilities such as schools and others.
Thanks to the work of many outreach organizations all over the world, it now has a few schools and a church built by outreach and aid programs in Haiti.
Jean-Claude Duvalier Named Godfather At Law School In Gonaives
Here is a picture of former Haitian leader Jean Claude Duvalier in a crowd of Law students in Gonaives as they were in the process of receiving their diploma.
He was invited by the faculty leader to be part of the graduating class in December, 2011.
The selection of former president Jean Claude Duvalier did now seat well with many who thought that the former leader does not deserve that. Cean Claude Duvalier was accused by many of his victims. They would want him to stand on trial instead for the crimes that took place on his watch
College Regina Assumpta, an all-girl School in Cap-Haitian
The school is currently located at Rue 21 A and was originally named " College Monseigneur Cousineau" but changed its name later to College Regina Assumpta. It offers a comprehensive education to the local women population, based on academics, as well as physical wellness.
