With the IMF's recent visit to Haiti, the question on most minds is whether Haiti is being considered for a loan. If this eventuality should come to pass, questions of the conditionality of their loans are sure to arise. It is a widely known part of any IMF agreement that, while the IMF doesn't ask for collateral from borrowing countries, they implement conditions to the government for the correcting of macroeconomic imbalances through reformations of internal policies. A country's failure to meet these conditions will result in the loan being denied.
