Edwidge Danticat, Writer of the Haitian Immigrant Experience
Author Edwidge Danticat's new novel Claire of the Sea Light is Wilmette Library's selection for its "One Book, Everybody Reads" program.
The novel tells the story of a young Haitian girl, orphaned by her father so she will be better taken care of. It traces Claire's experiences back to the fishing hamlet where she once lived.
Danticat has been much honored, recipient of critics' awards, fellowship grants, literary recognition, medals of honor, and achievement awards.
