Here is a picture of President Michel Martelly and the Presidents of both Houses of Parliament: Senator Jocelerme Privert (Senate) and Deputy Cholzer Chancy (Lower House) as they are getting ready to sign the agreement.

On Saturday, February 6th, 2016, at the National Palace, President Martelly President Martelly along with the Presidents of both the Houses of Parliament, Senator Jocelerme Privert (Senate) and Deputy Cholzer Chancy (Lower House) signed an agreement for institutional continuity at the end of his Presidential mandate of the Republic in the absence of an elected president and for the continuation of the electoral process that started on August 9, 2015. On February 7th, Martelly made an address to the nation before the National Assembly announcing the end of his tenure and departure from power. However, as per G8 political platform, the agreement seeks to postpone a crisis that must be solved immediately. They are of the opinion that two of the signatories, Privert and Chancy can never be empowered to sign such an accord without being nominated through a majority vote. As per former President Martelly, it was imperative to make such political agreement for creating political stability and maintaining social peace. However, the G8 believes this agreement completely disregards the general consensus and protests of the common people and attempts to validate the 2015 election with the reinstatement of former army.

Jocelerme Privert (born February 1, 1954), a native of Petit-Trou de Nippes, is one of the ten Senators in office since the Senate became defunct in January 2015. He is one of the most experienced persons in the Haitian political landscape who had assumed several esteemed portfolios like, the former Director General of Taxation, Minister of Interior and Territorial Communities, an interior minister under Aristide, State Secretary for Finance and an advisor of President Rene Preval. On January 14, 2016, he has been elected as the President of the Senate by defeating Youri Latortue from Ayiti An Aksyon (AAA). There are currently 24 sitting members of Haiti's 30-seat upper house. Privert (INITE) obtained 15 votes, there were seven abstentions and two Senators (Sen. Youri Latortue, an adviser to Martelly, who withdrew himself from the President of the Senate contest and another Senator) left the chambers before the vote. Privert has mentioned his prioritized areas of work as President. They are: a permanent Electoral Council, picking the next head of the PNH, a Constitutional Court, and board of the Central Bank.

Who will be the next president of Haiti?

Who will be the next president of Haiti?

As Michel Martelly getting ready to leave office, many are asking one question: who will replace him either temporarily or permanently?. Who will have this heavy task to put things in order. So far, the three most likely candidates are: 1) the current judge of the Court of Cassation Jules Cantave, 2) the president of the Senate Jocelerme Privert 3) the actual Defacto Prime Minister Evans Paul.

On the other side, I also know that based on interest, many people would see it differently. Do you see it the same way i do? Do you see something evolving that i have not seen yet?

Do you have any suggestion?
