US Medical Doctors at Hospital Bernard Mevs in Port-au-Prince reported that Judge Jean Serge Joseph died after being diagnosed with a stroke contrary to rumors suggesting that he had been poisoned or assassinated.

A press conference was conducted immediately after the death of Magistrate Jean Serge Joseph by Dr Richard Thorpe and Dr DeGennaro at Hospital Bernard Mevs to report that Judge Jean Serge Joseph died after being diagnosed with a stroke. According to the press conference, the judge was seen by Dr. Richard Thorpe from Minnesota after arriving at the hospital around 3 o'clock in the morning on Saturday July 13, 2013. He passed away at 8PM the same day, according to medical sources.

Jean Serge Joseph has been handling the case of alleged unlawful activity charges brought against members of the presidential family and many people. He recently issued a ruling calling on high level members of Martellys' government to appear before a the judge to testify in the case.
