Binational Market Of Dajabon Disrupted By Demonstration In Ouanaminthe

Recently on December 5th, the business in the Binational market at Dajabón in Dominican Republic was severely disrupted when a widespread protest was staged in nearby Ouanaminthe and other Haitian towns. Heated clashes between the police and residents took place. The inhabitants were demanding better services, lower taxes on merchandise, supply of electricity to the homes of Caracol by Caracol Electrification Project and the resignation of President Martelly. In the early hour of the day, some hooded individuals closed the gate on the Haitian border side and started throwing stones and bottles towards the Dominican side. Although, the door was reopened later, but very few buyers and sellers ventured to take risks. The traders from both sides of the border were affected. The big buyers and sellers could not cross the border due to road blocks at the junction of Fort-Liberté and Marfetí.

Doing Business 2015 of the World Bank, Haiti moved up by only one point

Haiti is making some small improvement to attract business. Overall, according to the most current report from Doing Business 2015 of the World Bank, that his not enough to move the country closer to a friendly environment for business. Haiti still find itself at the bottom or among the last ten countries in its ranking

Doing Business 2015 of the World Bank, Haiti moved up by only one point

Haiti's upward movement on the World Bank's Doing Business 2015 ranking might only be up one step, but compared to some other countries, like their island neighbor the Dominican Republic, Haiti has done well for itself since their last stage on the ranking. The Dominican Republic may be many places ahead of their poorer neighbor, at 84th to Haiti's 180th, but they are in exactly the same position they occupied last year, while Haiti has progressed where business was concerned. In one category alone--Dealing with Construction Permits--Haiti moved up a whole 6 places. This, indeed, augurs well for the future of the embattled country.

Clement's Glass & Mirror, Inc in Little Haiti

Clement's Glass & Mirror, Inc in Little Haiti

A visit was made to Clement's Glass & Mirror, Inc. on August 10, 2014 to quickly check things things out there. The business is located in a building along side with three other Haitian businesses: A Haitian Botanica, a Fruit Market and a Barber Shop.

In term of parking, you will find one, depending on the time of the day or the day of the week you get there. You will find the biggest parking challenge the on Saturdays.

Although the place appears small from the outside, there are plenty of space as you enter. In addition, you will find a receptive staff ready to help you. On the day of my visit, the owner of Clement' Glass and Mirror was present and personally greeted me. He is very dedicated to the success of his business and took the time to explain to me what he does.

Clement's Glass & Mirror, Inc. is a full service glass and mirror services with close to 20 years of experience. They sell and install all types of glass, frameless and framed shower doors, mirrors, windows, storefronts and more. They can help their customers make decisions about products for their home and business, and their experience will likely save you money.

I would recommend anyone to Clement's Glass & Mirror, Inc. because the staff is dedicated to the consumers and likely would o out of their way to pleas them.

Heineken's new sustainability strategy considers local sourcing a key component of its success. It has begun locally sourcing sorghum in Haiti through the Smallholders Alliance for Sorghum Haiti (SMASH) initiative.

SMASH's funding arm, Brasserie Nationale d'Haiti S.A. (BRANA), a Heineken division, created in 2012 after a buyout of minority shareholders, has poured $3.4 million into locally-sourced sorghum. Haitian peasants' sorghum yields are up 100% and their incomes have increased almost 100% too.
