A New Commission Ordered By Michel Martelly Plan For The Creation Of Millitary Force

A new six member commission was created to evaluate and plan on the rehabilitation of the Haitian Armed Forces. The commission is made of: Richard Morasse, Secretary of State for Defence, as President Reginald Delva, Secretary of State for Public Security, Vice President Reginald Delva, Secretary of State for Public Security, Vice President Bergerac Jean Barette, Secretary-reporter Gerard Gourgue, journalist-historian George Michel and Colonel Jean Thomas Cyprien.

The Nobel Peace winner for his peacemaking efforts in Central America does not think it would be a good thing for President Michel Martelly to return with the disbanded Haiti Military. He stated that would be an error. He suggested for the money to be invested instead on education, health and strengthening other institutions.

Michel Martelly wants to return with Haiti military to provide security and control Haiti's border with the Dominican Republic.

The plan calls for $95 million to train and equip the new Military force of 3,500 soldiers.

New development in the issue related to the re-establishment of the Haitian Military. According to information provided by Radio Caraibes FM, the Old Haitian Military known as Forces Arme D'Haiti that was disbanded by former president Jean-Bertrand Aristide is back in function.

They already occupied Camp Lamantin 54 and some other facilities left vacated by the old Haitian Military known as Forces Armees D'Haiti (FADH).

According to a spoksperson for the new Haitian Military force, they have the right to be in function as it is stated in the Haitian constitution

On 15 October 1994, after the return of Jean-Bertrand Aristide from exile, he disbanded the Haitian army and established a civilian police force.

While Aristide was widely praised for disbanding the armed forces, many people in Haiti think there is a need to return with the Haitians Military to keep the peace and provide security in the country
