The CEP ruled Lamothe lacked the required discharge document in order to run as a candidate in the next presidential election in Haiti

On June 3rd, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has announced its decision to bar the presidential candidacy of the former Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe on the ground that he lacked required discharge which he was required to submit under the electoral law to affirm that that he did not misused any government funds. However, the fact is that Lamothe could not provide that 'discharge' due to a defunct parliament and President Martelly has announced that he would not grant discharges for anyone by decree. Lamothe has always maintained that he should be allowed to run without a discharge by the CSCCA, because independent auditors have cleared him of financial mismanagement. The decision of CEP appears to be unfairly discriminatory because there are other candidates like Lamothe, who were never called for to submit any 'discharge' (for example, Thierry Mayard-Paul, Duly Brutus and Mario Andersol), but were allowed to proceed for the contest.

Jason Joel Desrouleaux is a Miami born 25 years (born September 21, 1989) old musician who is currently promoting his fourth studio LP "Everything Is 4". He is better known by his stage name Jason Derulo. Jason started his career as a solo artist in 2009, and gradually became an American singer, songwriter, dancer and choreographer. On March 9, 2015, his lead single "Want to Want Me" was released to contemporary radio as a follow up of his previous studio album Talk Dirty" (2014) and his fourth studio album, "Everything Is 4" was released in the U.S on May 29, 2015 through Beluga Heights Records and Atlantic Records. Jason hails from an impoverished Haitian family and has much faith on foundations. When he was asked about the title of his new album "Everything Is 4", he said four is an important number that follows us around. 'Four' symbolizes solid foundation. A chair has four legs. Four seasons represent a full cycle of change. His new album is packed with velvety slow jams, pop smarts, and dance-floor heat-- it is a production of his team's all star casts.

The Miami-Dade County Commission Chairman Jean Monestime who is a Haitian-American, did not stay quiet during the Haitian Cultural Heritage Month in Miami-Dade County. As part of his efforts to educate as many children about the Haitian culture, he has been organizing a Haitian History Bee contest every year for the past three years. This year is no exception. The participants are elementary, middle and high schools students from Miami-Dade

Miami-Dade held the Haitian History Bee in May. The event was funded by Jean Monestime, Miami-Dade's County Chairman.

Three Miami-Dade schools each sent four teams to vie for the top spot, selected from public and private, primary, middle- and high school levels.

The contest coincided with Haiti's Haitian Cultural Heritage Month. One competitor said, ". . . Haitian history is difficult but ". . . . I think it's a hidden gem."

Ms. Beauzile presents her political program which consists of 77 interventions across 7 seven sectors to support 7 party policies.

The Fusion of Haitian Social Democrats has elected Senator Edmonde Supplice Beauzile president of Fusion political party.

In her inaugural speech she promised to represent the poor populace and towards social justice and sustainable development for Haiti.

Two former leaders of Fusion welcome the recent change in leadership with inclusion of women and youth. Beauzile will be the second woman to preside over a political party in Haiti.

Theano reputation salvaged: Lamothe will run for President

Minister Theano has gone on record to say the audio leak of recent days has been tampered with. It is not true that ex-Prime Minister Lamothe--as he has been purported to have said--had no knowledge of being pre-registered for the upcoming elections by Theano.

The act of sabotage was exposed when Lamothe showed up at the Departmental Electoral Office to file as a candidate for president with Peyizan political party.

It appears that former Haitian Senator Ultimo Compère was trying to pull a fast one on the electoral body. However, it did not fly. The CEP has excluded the candidate Ultimo Compère for submitting false information in registering his candidacy.

Ex-senator of Central Department, Ultimo Compere has been dismissed as a candidate for a senate seat by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP). He is alleged to have given false information to the CEP. He has violated the Electoral Decree and article 209 of the Constitution.

Compere is scheduled to appear in court for his offenses. His removal has brought senate candidates down to 232 male contenders from Central Department.

The spirit of service to our community has been introduced to Haiti by Marriott at the Communal Asylum (asile communal) in Delmas

Marriott International is carrying out its global initiative. 328,800 employee volunteers from 74 countries serve the community one day each year.

This year Communal Asylum was chosen. Volunteers visited the elderly, handing out food and toiletries.

Marriott Port-au-Prince's Peter Antinoph said, " . . . we seek to convey . . . the deep commitment of our company . . . . (and) help Port-au-Prince . . . become a space where life and activities are progressing . . ."

Here is a picture of the Conjoined twin who were successfully separated in Haiti at University Hospital in Mirebalais, Haiti

Two conjoined female twins were successfully separated after a seven-hour surgery. This was Haiti's first time performing such a sensitive surgery on conjoined twins.

Four medical teams performed the surgery: Hopital Bernard Mevs, PIH, Children's Hospital in LA and Mirebalais Hospital.

The medical team consisted of a plastic surgeon; general surgeons; a pediatrician; two anesthesiologists, and ICU specialists.

First Lady Sophia Martelly visited the hospital and happily held the newly separated infants.

Here is a picture of the Haitian fashion designer Paola Mathe who has created the website Fanm Djanm. For relatively a short period of time, she has been gaining fame with her fashionable, statement-making headwraps.

Haitian designer Paola Mathe wants to empower women and named her business Fanm Djanm, i.e. Strong Woman. She is doing so well after a year in business she is now designing jewelry and clothes.

Her brainchild has been an all-purpose headwrap. The headwrap can be used as a neckerchief, a belt, even a shirt.

Initially, women resisted buying headwraps because they associated it with lower-class women. But the headwraps took off and women are now saying ". . . I need at least five . . ."

Here is a picture of the the superstar Beyonce wearing a $302 Multi Euprotto Skirt with a $229 Oversized T-Shirt. In addition, she has a $639 floral embellished leather sandals. All designed by Haitian designer Stella Jean.

High-fashion pop star Beyonce has given the nod to Italian-Haitian designer Stella Jean by sporting two of her creations in public just days apart.

On one occasion Beyonce chose an Abuelo-style out-sized t-shirt she paired with a skirt imprinted with a tropical fruit pattern. She added a pair of Stella Jean leather sandals with a floral design.

Stella Jean's casual design styles reflect the meeting of her Haitian and Italian heritage.
