On November 25, 2014, while visiting Haitian Leon Gerard Rehabilitation Institute, the Haitian Prime Minister Laurent Lamothe has reiterated his government's unwavering support for the disabled and the people with less mobility, who have so far remained overlooked from most of the government enhancement programs. He has also said that his government has special attention to the disabled, and the government wants to protect their rights in every sphere of the society. Haitian Leon Gerard Rehabilitation Institute is a referral hospital in Bon-Repos. The Prime Minister appreciated the efforts of its trained staff on taking care of the disabled. He also appreciated the contribution of Brazil and Cuba to the institute and distributed equipment to the people with special needs.

Here is a picture of Remarais Jean- Baptiste who is one of the hosts in the popular Haitian Radio show Matin Caraibes.

Broadcast through the cities of Miami, Montreal, and Paris, to name a few, the radio station Radio Caraibes FM has been a helpful link for those of the Haitian diaspora, broadcasting in French with journalists such as Program Director of Public Affairs, Louinel Saintalbord, Jean-Jahkob Jeudy, Jean-Samuel Trezil, and Carlo Sainristil. The station was founded in 1949 by the Brown family, but is now operated by Patrick Moussignac. Radio Caraibes FM's greatest claim to fame is hosting the country's most popular talk show, Ranmasse.

The current political situation may be cause for panic as the problem for election in Haiti can not be resolved between the Government of Michel Martelly and the opposition. However, the Haitian Diaspora is getting closer and closer to become a determining factor in the next election in Haiti.

Haiti is moving forward with the plan to have all its citizens counted and to give them the right to vote, no matter where they are. It is in the same concept that the actual government has decided to create this new ID office in the Diaspora for Haitians.

As was promised early last month, an ID office has been set up were Haitians living in the U.S. can go to receive their national identification cards. Located in the consolute for Haiti in Miami, the office will begin operations in December and will issue cards that will serve for 10 years. These cards will have a specific number assigned, just as in the case of the Social Security number, and will afford diaspora members a chance to stay active in the future of their homeland.

Here is a picture of a new modern birth center for women in Haiti. Maison de Naissance or Maternal Health Center in Torbeck.

With a name that means "Home of Birth" the Torbeck maternal health center, Maison de Naissance, needs to be a place of comfort, peace and efficiency. The beautiful, modern health facility seems to be all that, servicing the poor in the vicinity and welcoming hundreds of babies into the world. Since 2004, they have done over 132,000 consults and hosted the birth of nearly 5,000 babies. This year, the center celebrates its 10th anniversary.

This term "Nage Pou'w Soti" characterized his government. The Haitian statement "Nage Pou'w Soti" means swim to get out of the water; in another term, don't expect others to hand a hand to you to help you to get out

Not since Marie Antoinette's famous "Let them eat cake" quip has one sentence from a ruling head had the potential to so incense a nation for its seeming nonchalance to the plight of the people as the 2006 one from former President Rene Preval of "Nage Pou Soti." The Creole term that translates to "swim your way out" was meant to be something more like the American "sink or swim", but for a country that is largely surrounded by water, though few know how to swim and scores of those who try to flee in small boats end up drowned, it did not go over quite so well.

Cardinal Chibly Langlois to celebrate Mass in Little Haiti, home to the largest Haitian community in U.S.

Mass in Little Haiti, Miami this year was a special service for all those who attended the November 23 event in what is the largest concentration of Haitians in the United States. This special service was made so by the presence of Haitian Cardinal Chibly Langlois, the Diocese of Les Cayes, Haiti. The yellow T-shirt-clad parishioners came out en masse to see Haiti's first cardinal, the youngest appointed in his batch earlier this year, and the only one not already an archbishop, a title he was honored with shortly after.

An accomplished business executive with a Haitian root, Reggie Fils-Aime was born to Haitian immigrants, who moved to the United States due to the political view of his grandparents. He was hired by Nintendo of America in December 2003 as the Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing.

Fils-Aime became President and Chief Operating Officer of the video game company on May 25, 2006. Nintendo is one of the most influential in the industry and Japan's third most valuable listed company. It has a market value of over US$85 billion,

The President and Chief Operating Officer of the North American division of the hugely successful Nintendo franchise, Reginald Fils-Aim, was born in the Bronx, New York after his Haitian parents were forced to emigrate because of the political atmosphere in Haiti at that time. Before his current post, Fils-Aimé worked with VH1, where he met his current wife, and then began working at Nintendo where he would become the Executive Vice President of Sales and Marketing before taking on his current role. In 2004 at an E3 press conference, he became a popular figure among gamers around the world following his appearance.

Always a dreamer, Haitian born beauty queen turned Italian figure skater turned actress Meta Golding is making a name for herself in some of the most popular movies and TV shows today. With credits including "Kiss the Girls", "On Edge", "The Hunger Games: Catching Fire", and "Criminal Minds" to name a few, this highly ambitious beauty seems on the direct path to stardom. Adopted by a mixed-race couple at a young age, Perrier grew up in a small town in America where her innate, cultural love of art was nurtured into her current expression through photography, film, installation work on a large-scale, textiles and collage that offer of her own identity while covering themes of power, sensuality and relationships, such as in her latest photography piece "Florida Water."

Here is a list of Hotels classified by the Minister of Tourism in Haiti for 2014.

The Ministry of Tourism and Creative Industries (MTCI) has decided to publish the complete results of the classification of hotels in Haiti in order to inform the traveling public of the quality of the services to expect before booking

As of November 1, the Ministry of Tourism has delivered scutcheons to classified hotels, including the 5 which have earned 5-hibiscus status. These include Haiti El Rancho, Best Western Premier, The Inn at Villa Bambou, Karibe Convention Center, and Hotel Royal Oasis (a total of 441 rooms).

The currently classified establishments make up a 51% majority of all hotel rooms in the country. As well as the hotel criteria, hotels must be in good standing with the DGI to be eligible for classification. So far, only 177 hotels out of 525 in the country meet the Ministry of Tourism standards for classification on the hibiscus scale; however, since the program began over a year and a half ago, more than 4,000 rooms in 456 establishments have been classified under it.
