Jean Dominique assassination and Jean Bertrand Aristide
According to a report on January 17, 2014 According to Radio Kiskeya.com, a judge concluded that total of nine people were implicated in the death of journalist Jean Dominique; one of which, Former Senator Mirlande Libérus Pavert who was former head of the Aristide Foundation for Democracy. According to the report, Mirlande Libérus Pavert was the intellectual author of the assassination. Other named listed in the assassination include: Voodoo priestess Annette Auguste, aka Sô Ann, Gabriel Harold Severe, Anette Augustre, Gepsie Milien, Markenton Michel, Jean Daniel Jeudy, Jean Mercidieu Toussaint and Merite Milien
Haitians Honored for commitment and consistency in 2013
No good deed goes unappreciated. That was the motivational message the Haitian Parliament sent out to the country when they honored Haitians who, in their respective fields, have used their influence to champion democracy, Haitian culture, freedom of expression and the rule of law. Among the group of awardees were four journalists who made the batch; Gary Pierre-Paul Charles from Scoop FM, Frantz Duval of Le Nouvelliste, Radio Vision 200's Marie Lucie Bonhomme and Anthony Pascal from Konpè Filo Tele Ginen.
Haiti Kanaval 2014, is it Tet Kole or Tet Kale?
in 2014, the National Carnival of Haiti will take placed in the historic City of Independence Gonaives from March 2-4, 2014. The theme "Tèt kole pou Ayiti Pi Djanm".
The name selected is very interesting as "Tèt Kole" is very close to Tèt Kale, the new political party of President Michel Martelly.
This brings me to believe that Haiti Kanaval 2014 in Gonaïves

Cap-Haïtien, Haiti’s Capital, once under French Occupation
In Haiti's Nord Department lies Cap-Haïtien, with a population numbering 190,000.
Columbus first colonized the island in the 1600s. He was followed by the French in the 1800s. They built sugarcane plantations, bringing in thousands of African slaves for manual labor.
Cap-Haïtien has been a hot-bed of insurrectionary fervor: anti-Aristide revolutionaries influenced the opposition to run him off the island in 2004.
Cap-Haïtien buildings are French colonial architecture, containing balconies, lending a social ambience to communities residing there.
Dr. Laroche Double Trophy Winner at Digicel Event
Digicel held their fourth annual 2013 Digicel Entrepreneur of the Year event at the Karibe. Out of 24 finalists in the competition, five won Entrepreneur of the Year trophies. Haitian entrepreneur, Dr. Ronald Laroche, won trophies in two divisions.
The presentation ceremony started with the appearance of Digicel CEO, Denis O'Brien, with 24 finalists walking behind him. Soprano Deborah Henristal sang the national anthem, and Dr. Laroche showed off his trophies during a photo op.
Prime Minister Lamothe Introduces Haiti’s First Android Tablet
Surtab has manufactured the first tablet in Haiti, in WI-FI and 3G models. Surtab CEO, Maarten Boute, says the device is being offered at a price within the means of Haitian professionals and students.
Prime Minister Lamothe held a demonstration of Surtab, which will make users inclusive in the worldwide use of Internet apps. The WI-FI tablet will sell for $100 retail and 3G at $200.
Surtab wants to capture other Caribbean markets like Jamaica and the Turk and Caicos Islands.
Cap-Haitian
In the heart of Cap-Haitian, one would find themselves charmingly land-locked with the beautiful Cap-Haitien Bay to one side and the mountains of the west to another. The narrow, grid-like streets are defining characteristics of the urban setting and named as single letters, a throwback to the American occupation in the early 1900's. Many of the buildings in the city, now housing markets, apartments and churches, were erected during this period from 1915 to 1934.
