On Thursday, October 8th, 2015, the Haitian President Martelly accompanied by the First Lady Sophia Martelly, Prime Minister Evans Paul and several other ministers, including Nesmy Manigat, the Minister of National Education, and several hundred participants, went to inaugurate the new premises of 'Lycée Alexandre Pétion' in Bel-Air, Port-au-Prince. 'Lycée Alexandre Pétion' is the first secondary school in Haiti, founded in 1816 A.D. It was initially known as the Grand College of Port-au-Prince, but later the name was changed to its founder's name-- Alexandre Petion (2 April 1770 - 29 March 1818). The new premises covers an area of 9,400 square meters, and in 2016, it will celebrate its bicentennial year.

On Friday, September 25th, 2015, the General Assembly of lawyers has formed a new Council of the Bar of Port-au-Prince. The outgoing Secretary Mr. Stanley Gaston has been unanimously elected as the new President of the Bar of Lawyers of Port-au-Prince for a two year term. He would replace the previous President Mr. Carlos Hercules, who has completed his two year term since 2011-13, but contested for a second term unsuccessfully. The list of other new elected office bearers includes: Mr. Jean Bergemane Berrette, (Secretary), Mr. Wébert Paul (Treasurer) and 11 new councilors. Mr. Carlos Hercules during his speech has described the coming election as a roof which would help the lawyers to continue and discharge their duty successfully. Me Stanley Gaston, the new President has promised to work under the guidance of the outgoing President, he has been elected to his new responsibility because the members of the Bar were satisfied with his accomplishment.

On Wednesday, September 30th, 2015, while attending the 70th General Assembly of the United Nation in New York, President Martelly accompanying his wife Sophia Martelly met the Haitian community of Spring Valley. The President was welcomed at the City Hall of St. Joseph Church by the Mayor Demeza Delhomme. Mayor Delhomme, during his speech did not fail to mention that this has been the first visit ever by a Haitian President to this community. The President was visibly moved by the honor bestowed upon him by his compatriots of Spring Valley. The key of the city was delivered to him by the city Mayor. During his speech, Martelly had explained about his responsibility and commitment as the Head of the State, especially a few months before the end of his presidential term. He described himself as a part of the diaspora and continued to mention the expectation and responsibility of diaspora community, to and from the country. He expressed his hope that the new elected authority will work to improve and achieve progress.

As per news report dated September 28, 2015, the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), in accordance with the Article 188 of the Electoral Decree dated March 2, 2015, has released the result of the first round election for 2/3 of Senate and 118 Deputies (Chambre de Députés). As per the published result, so far only 2 senators and 8 deputies have been selected. Out of the two senators, one is from the AAA or Ayiti an Aksyon banner and the other one is from Western Department of Dessalinienne League (LIDE). Out of the eight Deputies, four were elected from PHTK platform, two from AAA party, one from VERTIE and one from INITE PATRIYOTIK.

With the resignation of Nehemy Joseph, a pressure is building on the CEP for a total collapse; the fate of the CEP has become uncertain. It has raised the possibility of more resignation and a question mark on the fate of the October 25 election for president, mayors and members of parliament. In his three page resignation letter to the President, Néhémy has conveyed his frustration with the workings of the CEP. The council has been plagued by credibility problems over decisions and disagreements among members. Joseph had further informed the President about several lapses which were allowed to be continued without any corrective measures, and moreover, he was not happy with the selection of three electoral advisers by the President of CSPJ, Me Anel Alexis Joseph.

Three weeks before the critical vote to elect Martelly's successor, Nehemy Joseph, a member of Haiti's Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) has resigned on Friday, October 2nd, 2015. In his statement to the Le Nouvelliste correspondent, he has said that he was not comfortable with the workings of the Electoral Council towards an inclusive and impartial election and has sent his 3 page resignation letter to the President Michel Martelly. Nehemy Joseph is a member representing the Voodoo and the peasant community on the nine-member council of CEP. His sudden retirement has raised concern about the possibility of more resignations from the embattled electoral body.
Plan to build cable car linking Labadee with Citadelle Laferriere
Did you know there is a plan in the making to build a cable car line linking Labadie with Citadelle Laferriere? This is part of a tourism improvement plan. Tourists arriving at Labadee via Royal Caribbean cruise will now be able to get to the historic site of Citadelle Laferriere in very safe condition.
This picture seeing here is not an actual picture of the cable car line project between Labadie and Citadelle Laferriere. It is just an idea of what it will look like after completion.
China never withdrew it supports on Haiti since its participation in the UN peacekeeping mission in Haiti following the devastating 2010 earthquake. Although, they left the UN mission in November 2012, but have maintained their presence with financial cooperation and assistance in important Haitian development works. Recently, on September 25, 2015, a Memorandum of Understanding has been signed between the Haitian government and China National Automation Control System Corp (CACS) which would help to construct new buildings for the finance ministry, the tax office and the customs bureau. Furthermore, the Chinese companies will help to improve and expand important arterial roads around the capital city and in the border areas. A cable car will be constructed to link the municipality of Labadie to the archaeological site of Citadelle Laferriere, and the international airport, Toussaint Louverture will be renovated within a few years. These are genuine gesture from China to put Haiti on its path to development. The Citadelle Laferrière or, Citadelle Henry Christophe is a large mountaintop fortress in northern Haiti built between 1805 and 1820 with 365 cannons of varying size, approximately 17 miles (27 km) south of the city of Cap-Haïtien and five miles (8 km) uphill from the town of Milot.

On Wednesday, September 29, 2015, on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly held in New York between September 15 and October 5, 2015, the Haitian Foreign Minister Lener Renauld met his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov to sign an agreement towards greater cooperation between the two countries. As per information available on the ministry's website, the two Foreign Ministers have discussed about the development prospects of Russian-Haitian bilateral relations and their mutual cooperation within the United Nation. The Haitian Foreign Minister has thanked the Russian Foreign Minister for their continued support, particularly at the UN and its contribution toward maintaining stable socio-political and socio-economic situations in Haiti.

Since the first day of September, the people of Arcahaie are agitating and showing their mark of displeasure. They are not happy with the President Martelly's unilateral decision to make "Les Arcadins" a separate commune and connected it to the Artibonite Department. They have rejected the president's decision because they consider it is unconstitutional and ultra vires the power of an outgoing president who is holding his office without any parliament, but by a decree. The new commune would take out a section of coastline from the city where the President had built a mansion for himself and few more homes for his friends. For the past 40 days, children of Arcahaie could not go to school, three buses, along with a bus of the Dignite company were burnt, three public buildings, such as, the tax office, the municipal palace and the vice delegates office for the district, were set on fire on October 2nd. Due to several roadblocks, people cannot travel north to south or vice versa; even the people from the east cannot travel back from Port-au-Prince.

Euvonie Georges Auguste, the interim Secretary General of the National Confederation of Haitian Vaudouisante has said the Haitian voodoo sector will not send any representative to the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) to replace Nehemie Joseph because the CEP does not have the required credibility to hold a fair election. After the death of Max Beauvoir, the Supreme Chief of Haitian voodoo on September 12, 2015, 18 voodoo organizations in the country selected Augustin Saint Clou as the acting Supreme Chief. But, that decision was challenged by Mambo Euvonie Georges of the Haitian National Vodouisante Confederation (KNVA) and KNVA announced the appointment of Euvonie as the acting Supreme Chief of Haitian voodoo, replacing Augustin Saint Clou. However, another Voodoo organization (National Commission for the Restructuring of Voodoo or CONAVO) has sent their choice for a replacement for Nehemie Joseph to Martelly.
