Celtic Park stadium ready to be open in Haiti
Here is a picture of the new Celtic Park stadium in Haiti.
Catholic Relief Services has partnered with Celtic FC Foundation to build Celtic Park Haiti in Solino, a slum in Port-au-Prince.
Solino, former site of a tent city after the 2010 earthquake, has been transformed into a soccer venue with a soccer field, basketball court, and an area for putting on community events.
The opening ceremony crowd numbered 1,500. CRS Representative Chris Bessey said, "We are grateful to have the support of Celtic FC Foundation in this task."
Ebenezer D. Bassett, first African-American ambassador to Haiti

Ebenezer D. Bassett, Ambassador to Haiti and an African American, will be paid tribute to during September's Freedom Trail Month at the Grove Street Cemetery.
Bassett broke the color line at Central Connecticut State University, then became principal at Cheney University, the first black university.
Scheduled to speak are New Haven Mayor Toni Harp; Preservation Representative Marian O'Keefe; and CSCU Provost Carl Lovitt. The post-ceremony reception will take place at Jean Pope Park.
The 9 laureates for baccalaureate exams, 2014-2015 in Haiti
The state exams in Haiti have the reputation of being one of the most difficult exams in the school system in the country. Historically, it has had a success rate of between 20 and 30 percent of passing the test for the first time. This year, we have the results of those who not only passed the baccalaureate exams, but with flying color.
Nine students have taken top honors in baccalaureate exams this year: three in West Department; three in South Department; one each in Northwest and Northeast Departments; and highest exam taker from Ouanaminthe.
But the government of Haiti's (GOH) plan for free education for all is failing miserably. In 2012 the National Education Fund (NEF) was raided for other GOH priorities. In addition GOH has illegally taxed the telecommunicatons and banking sectors to invest in the NEF.

Miami-Dade county has approved Ayiti land of high mountains project in little Haiti. It is a Art Project in memory of victims of Haiti earthquake.
Miami Foundation has partnered with Health Foundation of South Florida and Baptist Health South Florida to award the best ideas of civic improvement projects for the Our Miami Public Space Challenge.
Ideas for projects include the following: 79th Street Initiative; Collin Worth Parkway; Dejha Carrington Art Project; Empowered Youth, Inc.; Groove Miami; Walking a Poem; Wynwood Greenhouse; Miami Jazz Cooperative; North Miami Community Park; and Miami Mountains Foundation Project.

U.S. Ambassador to Haiti, Pamela White, states the U.S. is against an interim government. Opposition parties want to get rid of the corrupt PEC, who manipulates the electoral process to its advantage.
The U.S. argues elections must be held because it is the only way to guarantee political stability. It also says private investors are leery of provisional governments.
The U.S. has poured $25 million into elections and will donate another $5 million.

Here is the construction plan for Lycées Alexandre Pétion and Toussaint Louverture.
Two private schools, Alexandre Petion and Toussaint Louverture, have been rebuilt after their destruction from the 7.0 magnitude earthquake. The two projects have been funded by PetroCaribe Fund at $15 million USD.
IBT Group Haiti did the construction work under the management of the Ministry of Planning and External Cooperation.
Both schools will feature temperature controlled classrooms, auditoriums, language, science, and computer labs, along with libraries and sports fields.

Boxer Andre Berto is eager to fight Floyd Mayweather, undisputed champion with a no-loss record. The fight will happen at the MGM Grand. Berto has won the welterweight world title twice, with a 33-30 record.
Berto is on social media posting under #TheHarvestIsHere and #ZoeBloodLine to mentally prepare for the title battle.
With a not completely healed shoulder injury, will Berto push past the pain to defeat Mayweather? Berto is betting on himself to win.
Noailles Village, a thriving metal sculpture industry in Haiti
Here is a picture of Noailles Village. This is a thriving city in Haitian art as it produces metal sculpture.
Noailles Village is the only place in Haiti where metal work occurs. The town is a colony of metal workers, who carve custom iron crosses.
The metal work small-scale industry started in 1956 when George Liataud starting making esthetically pleasing iron crosses to mark graves and tombs in Croix-des-Bouquet's cemeteries. Eventually he combined Voodoo and Christian symbols to appeal to the tourist market.
Today Noailles Village has a legacy of generations of metal work artists.

During his address Henry committed himself to ". . . ensure . . . we have satisfactory elections, free, democratic, and inclusive . . ."
