Charles Riviere-Herard and the Dominican Republic
Charles Riviere-Herard was the president of Haiti during the occupation of the Dominican Republic. However, soon after he came in to power, Dominican republic declared their independence from Haiti
This took place on 27 February 1844, a group of rebels occupied the capital city of Santo Domingo and the next day declared independence of the Dominican Republic from Haiti.
