A Haitian nurse is bringing a lawsuit to Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre on Long Island for not taking action against ongoing discrimination against her. Diana St. Gerard, who worked in the mental health unit at Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre claims that white staff are allowed to discriminate against her, saying that she practices Voodoo and is involved in Black magic because she is Haitian.

A new air medical service has been introduced for the nation of Haiti.

Haiti Air Ambulance (HAA), a not-for-profit foundation is introducing Haiti's first permanent helicopter EMS program. this is in association with the University of Miami's Project Medishare, Hospital Bernard Mevs, and a network of other local hospitals.

The goal is to provide life-saving emergency services to all Haitians regardless of income. Services are expected to begin in early 2014. they will be flying fully equipped Bell 407's on life-saving missions throughout the country of Haiti.
It is expected to compensate for Haiti poor roads condition where people will have helicopters that will fly them into Port-au-Prince where there is proper care.

Ambassadors of France, the United States, and Spain, on Thursday, August 2, signed a contract with the Ministers of Public Health and Economy for Haiti, that will see the Hospital of the State University of Haiti reconstructed. The reconstruction will be funded to a tune of USD 41.48 million. This contact is under a cooperation program that has a total budget of USD 83.2 million.
