On the occasion, a mass was held at Church St Jean Bosco and following the mass, a march was held, taking the participants all the way to Fort-Dimanche. Bothe René Préval and Evans Paul were on hand to participate at the historic and memorable day. Also present were several former political prisoners

He became Prime minister March 12, 2004 following the removal of President Jean Bertrand Aristide from power. In February 2004, according to some, the country experienced a coup d'état and new Prime Minister Gerard Latortue was selected by the Council and appointed head of the interim government

The leading opposition furing his administration came from the Fanmi Lavalas political party. An election took place on February 7, 2006. In June 2006, Gerard Latortue was succeeded by Jacques-Édouard Alexis.

Haitian President Rene Preval And His Government

Rene Preval is credited for being the second president of Haiti democratically elected. Once in power, he faced several challenges. In 1999, after disagreements with the elected deputies of the country, he dissolved parliament and ruled by decree. In 2006, he again became president.

Preval made numerous economic reforms to the country. Many government entities were privatized. He was also credited for bringing the Haitian unemployment rate to the lowest in its history.

The 2010 earthquake took place during Rene Preval's government. The international community responded with financial help

Foreign government reaction to the return of Jean-Claude was that of a surprise. The French government that was supposed to be aware of the return stated that they were unaware of the return until Jean-Claude landed in Haiti. They denied any allegation of complicity on their part.

Dr. Garry Conille is a graduate of College Canado Haitien. He also studied at the Faculty of Medicine and Pharmacy of the UEH in Haiti and at the University of North Carolina in the United States.

If he becomes the Next Prime Minister of Haiti, Dr. Garry Conille would brake the cycle where his two previous candidates for the position were rejected by the Haitian parliament

He was born on July 11, 1943 in Port-au-Prince and became prime minister from August 30, 1993 to November 8, 1994.

Robert Malval is an industrialist and business leader who was appointed Prime Minister by former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. He was not able to govern as he was appointed Prime minister in the objective to solve a crisis at the time between the Army-backed presidency of Emile Jonassaint and Jean Bertrand Aristide. Robert Malval was not successful and was obligated to resign after a short period of time

He was born on October 19, 1940 and became Prime Minister for short period of time. One thing that was very noticeable about Rosny Smarth was that he resigned from his position, leaving the post vacant for nearly two years.

He studied at the University of Port-au-Prince, then received a degree in agronomy at the University of Santiago de Chile . Smarth was appointed director of the Chilean Institute for Agricultural Development in 1967, then became the Lavalas Political Organization. Rosny Smarth was appointed Prime Minister of Haiti on 27 February 1996 to 9 June 1997

Many years after working in several non governmental organizations in adult literacy and humanitarian relief, she created the women's league for women's empowerment to promote women to participate in politics. She speaks Haitian Creole, French, English, Spanish and Portuguese
