Transportation system for Haitian currency

Here is an interesting picture where Haitian currency is being transported via Bourette.

Haiti has long been known to be the poorest of countries in the Western Hemisphere. Still, its GDP growth in 2012 was reported at 1.3% making its annual GDP approximately $13 billion. One of Haiti's problems is that it has a higher inflation rate than other low-income countries in a similar circumstance. It also has to battle a lack of investment opportunities and repeated disasters that cripple the economy. In 2012, the country listed revenues of $1.35 billion, with expenses of $1.446 billion.

The Word Disaster

The Word Disaster

A disaster can be classified as an event that results in extreme loss as well as misfortune. While each part of the world suffers from its own set of disasters, naturally occurring and otherwise, Haiti seems one country unequally plagued by a series of disastrous events since at least the 1500's. From tropical storms that caused landslides due to disastrous levels of rainfall, to hurricanes, cyclones and earthquakes, Haiti has been steadily and perpetually plagued by the sort of disasters that claim millions of lives and billions of dollars.

The Caribbean

The Caribbean

The Caribbean has the sort of past that seems made for the harsh reminders found in history books and the quixotic harkening of fiction. Found in the Caribbean Sea, the islands of the Caribbean all share common pasts that are linked through the slave trade. The similarities can be found in certain aspects of the arts, religion and cuisine, where they all merge from the congruent African descent. Where they differ, and what makes the Caribbean still such a diverse place even amongst itself, is the added influence from around the world that has shaped each country individually.

Haiti Sport

The Haitian sports culture may seem to lean decisively towards the world's sport, football, but recently, basketball has been finding a foothold in the country and, once upon a time, the sport of choice in the country was the now outlawed cockfighting. Today, football dominates the sporting arena, with hundreds of clubs dedicated to the sport on a local level all over the country. Still, Haitians play other types of sports including volleyball and a game little known outside of the country called Blagaball, which has its roots in baseball, and involves a stick for a bat and an orange for a ball.

Haiti Politic, the art of politic

While Haiti draws closer to a Presidential Election, the population still waits for the implementation of certain staples to make their elections more civilized. As yet, there has been no finalization of the electoral law, no time set for an election and great debate as to whether the Senators have, indeed, completed their term. The last election was done up quickly after the massive earthquake forced the need for it. This time around, the Haitian people ought to have a more deliberate route to democracy.
