Lascahobas School Gets Internet and Wireless Technology

Lascahobas is a small hamlet of 7,574 inhabitants, lying in Haiti's Central Plateau. A lively market center serves surrounding hamlets not far away.

Lascahobas EFACAP school is the first site to receive solar power, Internet, and WiFi connectivity. Three organizations collaborated to install the technology, enabling the school's laptops to be connected online. In addition, tech business, Inveneo, has built a high speed wireless circuit throughout Haiti, serving six regions and 20 underserved metropolitan areas.

Lascahobas School First to Receive Internet Access

Lascahobas is a Christian community, with a sprinkling of Voodoo believers, sitting on the Central Plateau. It is entering 21st century technology with broadband and wireless connectivity, powered by solar panels.

Internet connectivity is being accomplished at EFACAP school with solar power. And tech company, Inveneo, is building a wireless network to hook up six regions and 20 underserved high-density areas across Haiti.

Lascahobas eligibles are also receiving training and certification in Internet installation setups, wireless, and solar technologies.

POLITOUR to help Haiti bring in More Tourist Dollars

Haitian Commissioner, Carl Boucher, has created Haiti's first tourist police, POLITOUR. The first graduation class of 27 tourist police will be sent to North Department. They will be responsible for protecting all tourist spots and places of tourist activity.

POLITOUR will educate tourists on cultural and historical places of note. It will be both a presence to deter crime, and goodwill agency to encourage more tourist dollars to flow into Haiti.

The new envoy Jude Thaddeus Okolo to the Dominican Republic by Vatican does not think confrontation is the solution to solve the problem between Dominican Republic and Haiti. Instead, he wants to see it solved in a humane way.

Envoy Jude Thaddeus Okolo proposed that the Catholic Church mediate the conflict if both parties agree.

Me Francisco René who recently replaced Me Lucmane Delille in office as the Prosecutor of Port-au-Prince received his revocation on November 27, 2013.

Me Francisco René was the 9th Commissioner of Government under President Michel Martelly.

He followed a long list of Commissioner of Government like Me Lucmane Délille, Me Jean-Claude Dabrésil, Me Elco Saint-Amant, Renel Sénatus, Harrycidas Auguste, Sonel Jean François, Félix Léger and Lionel Constant Bourgouin.

since October 30, 2012. An appointment that has already attracted the protest even before the installation of the new Commissioner.

His appointment in the post caused controversy and finally he was obligated to leave

The slum City Cité Soleil

Cité Soleil is a slum City near the Capital Port-au-Prince. it is one of the poorest cities in Haiti.

Cité Soleil was originally a shanty town. it has anywhere between 200,000 to 400,000 residents

The city became known in the summer of 1966, following a fire in the slum of La Saline. The first set of homes were built there but the area was known as Cité Simone

In 1972, yet another fire displace more people and they were moved to the Boston section of Cité Simone.

In 2007 the United Nations Stabilization Mission in Haiti (MINUSTAH) was involved in several operation to get ride of the gangs
