After the fall of Duvalier, Luc Désir was brought to Haitian justice. He was charged for his crimes such as torture and killings and sentenced to life in prison. However, under President Prosper Avril, Luc Désir and 13 other people who had been convicted were given a reduced sentence. And to finish the entire ordeal, when General Raoul Cedras came into power, Luc Desir was released from prison

The voice of Haitian singer Jude Jean

One Haitian singer that is unique in the way he imposes himself is Jude Jean.

His voice is charming as well as imposing. he is very talented singer and musician. Beginning with the musical group K-Dans in 2000, Jude Jean worked with other great singers such as Carlo Vieux and Richard Cave. However, Carlo and Richard moved New York later and formed the successful band CaRiMi.

With the band, Jude Jean released several hit albums that actually gave him the international recognition that he now enjoys

Taste of Haiti, North Miami Museum Of Contemporary Art

This is an Annual event organized organized by by Haitian Culinary Alliance with support from The General Consulate of Haiti, The Haitian Chamber of Commerce, Offices of Commissioner Jean Monestime and The City of North Miami. It was quite an opportunity to be one on one with some of the best Haitian food. Several local and out-of-town vendors were present, offering samples of the diversity of Haitian cuisine.

Haitian Writer, Dr. Pradel Pompilus

One of the most respected Haitian scholars, Dr. Pradel Pompilus was born in 1914 and passed away in 2000. He was a writer, teacher, grammarian and linguist, best known for his study of Haitian literature.

Dr. Pradel Pompilus was born in Arcahaie, studied law, was professor of French and Latin. He became one of the first Haitian scholars in Paris and in 1957

Dr. Pompilus was then appointed professor of literature at the University of S State of Haiti and was a teacher at Ecole Normale Supérieure during 1980s. He was one of the Haitian writers who put Haitia creole at a high level. He deserves deep respect for his contribution to the Haitian literature

since January 12th, 2010, when Haiti was hit with an earthquake, Petit Séminaire College St Martial was destroyed. It is located and the school was established since 1865 by the Spiritans.
Petit Séminaire College St Martial started as a minor seminary, petit séminaire; however, since 1872 it has been providing education to the population where generations of Haitians have acquired quality education. From 1865 to the present more than 300 Spiritans missionaries (priests and brothers) have proudly worked and ministered at this school. Elizabeth Guerin is currently hosting a radio show in Miami, Bonjour Haiti , with her husband Nixon St-Hubert, also called Nicky Mix and Rene Philippe. She also contributes to the television show Haitian News on NBC with Christalie Parisot
