Deportation of Haitians in DR illegal, immoral and racist

Deportation of Haitians in DR illegal, immoral and racist

Let's call a dog a dog. What the Dominicans are currently doing to Haitians and Dominican-Haitians is not the behavior of a civilized society. At least we can go along with the statement of New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio who described the behaviors of the Dominican government as illegal, immoral and racist.

The Dominican Republic (DR) is getting ready to expel thousands upon thousands of Haitian migrants and their natural-born progeny as the date for implementation of the new immigration law draws near. Human rights organizations claim the law is based on race-hatred of darker-skinned Haitians.

DR President Medina states no mass deportations will happen and 210,000-plus Haitians have registered for the regularization program. Meanwhile dozens of buses stand poised to transport deportees to Haiti's border.

NYC Mayor de Blasio denounces DR Haitian Migrant Deportation Plan

The Dominican Republic's (DR) plan to deport Dominican-born Haitians has drawn the ire of NYC Mayor de Blasio. He describes the DR's intentions as "illegal, immoral, and racist".

In Washington D.C. the Association of Haitian Professionals (AHP) are organizing a protest at the
Embassy of the Dominican Republic, where they will call for ending deportations. AHP says Dominicans target anyone, who possess "Haitian facial features" and commit violent acts on them.

Senator Marco Rubio against attempts to disqualify Haitian candidates

U.S. aid to Haiti could be in jeopardy if US Senator Marco Rubio can have his way. He has proposed amendment to block aids to Haiti if the CEP attempts to disqualify some of the candidates in the upcoming election in Haiti for political reasons

Haiti risks losing U.S. Foreign Aid

Assessing Progress in Haiti Act (APHA) of 2014 is an amendment waiting for President Obama's signature. Senator Marco Rubio introduced the legislation.

Passage of APHA would affect U.S. aid to Haiti if the Provisional Electoral Council (PEC) eliminates candidates for political reasons. It has already eliminated ex-Prime Minister Lamothe and he is appealing the disqualification.

If enacted the U.S. Secretary of State would be obligated to give information to Congress on eliminations made for political gain by the PEC.

They were the charity organization to receive the largest amount of donations for relief efforts to Haiti after the 2010 earthquake. However the Red Cross used most of the fund to reduce their own accumulated deficits and pay their foreign employees huge salaries.

Red Cross steals Hundreds of Millions from Haiti Earthquake Relief

When Haiti was blown off its foundations by the 2010 earthquake, the international community responded, donating hundreds of millions of dollars. The Red Cross was the biggest donor at half a billion.

Suspicious because only six homes had been built in the last five years by the Red Cross, ProPublica investigated, discovering the agency used $100 million to lower their debts and another one-third of donations to cover their overhead.

Haiti Reception centers for Returnees from Dominican Republic

If you think you have seen enough about Haitian behaviors, you have not. What you are looking at is what the Haitian government calls Haiti Reception centers for Returnees from Dominican Republic. Some how, the Haitian government expects to receive about 400,000 people in this area. This preparation has been ongoing for over one month now when the government said that this site is subject to welcome our compatriots.

Marie Yolène Gilles, the Programme Manager of the National Network Defenses of Human Rights (RNDDH) has revealed in a statement on June 18, 2015, that no structure has yet been built and nothing concrete step has been taken on the Haitian side of Dominican border other than a poster indicating the proposed site of the shelters on a vast desert. Although since the late May, the government had confidently continued its announcement about two welcome centers for the returnees, the GAAR (Groupe d'Appui aux Rapatriés & Réfugiés) had only traced two trucks, one tractor, two generators and two guards and a placard indicating : Welcome" on the 3 project sites located in Malpasse.

CEP to maintain electoral calendar of three cycles

CEP to maintain electoral calendar of three cycles

The CEP has decided to go against the advises of U.S. Special Adviser to Haiti at the State Department, Thomas Adams and organize three cycles for the up coming election. The electoral calendar will not be modified

Thomas Adams, the Special Adviser to the US State Department for Haiti believes if Haiti holds the upcoming election in two cycles instead of three, the country may save around $30 million, and moreover, it will give enough time to the Electoral Council to prepare properly for the forthcoming election. However, the Haitian Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) thinks otherwise. Recently, Pierre Louis Opont, the President of the CEP along with six other councilors, during a press conference has provided an update on the financial, technical and logistical aspects of the ensuing electoral process and they have reaffirmed the earlier announced election calendar. Me. Opont has said that the total cost of holding elections for three days is about US$62 million. So how a reduction by one cycle could save $30 million as per Thomas Adams's calculation?
