The Minister for women and women's Rights in Haiti has resigned the government of Martelly-Paul, following verbal abuses by President Michel Martelly on a woman in Miraguane

Ms. Morquette's resignation letter followed that of the Minister of Social Affairs, Mr. Victor Benoit done on August 6, 2015. This decision was taken by the Political Party Fusion Social Democrats following the statement of President Martelly in a political gathering in Miraguane.

Three members of Haiti's coalition government, representatives from the Fusion of Social Democrats have resigned in protest of an inappropriate and ribald humor of the Head of State against a woman in Miragoâne, during a political rally on July 28. During the rally, the President told a woman to go in the bushes and have sex. The woman had accused Martelly's government of incompetence because they failed to bring electricity to her community. The resigned ministers are, Victor Benoit, Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, Yves Rose Morquette, Minister for the Status and Rights of Women, and Mozart Clerisson, Secretary of State for Literacy. The resignation letters of Yves Rose Morquette and Victor Benoit have been submitted to the Prime Minister; only the letter from the Secretary of State for Literacy is still waiting.

In a circular issued by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP), it has been learnt that the name of Willy Duchene from Haitian Republican Party has been removed from the list of approved candidates to participate in the presidential elections on 25 October and 27 December 2015. Upon verification, it has been found that Duchene is a US citizen; his name is recorded as a voter from Florida, United States of America since April 20, 1995. Haitian Embassy evicted in Pretoria for Rent Non-Payment

Haitian Embassy evicted in Pretoria for Rent Non-Payment

Here is a picture of the Haitian Embassy in Pretoria South Africa as possessions of the property were taken to a storage after a judge had had ordered the local sheriff to remove the belonging.

The order was issued this Friday and the eviction procedure took place on Friday as well.

On July 18th, Judge Janse van Nieuwenhuizen of the Pretoria High Court has given an attachment order under the principle of "tacit hypothec", to attach all the moveable properties of the Haitian embassy in Waterkloof, in Pretoria for non-payment of rent for 10 months aggregating US$44,265 (South African Rand 550,500). When as per the court order, the local Sheriff accompanying his men arrived at the embassy and started loading a truck with furniture of the embassy, they were stopped by the embassy staff who argued that their property cannot be attached as they enjoy diplomatic immunity. Earlier, the staff had called the Diplomatic Police and had informed that an armed robbery is taking place in the embassy premises. When the Diplomatic police arrived at the spot, they found none other than the Sheriff and his men. However, the embassy staff were informed by the landlord's legal representative that diplomatic immunity is not available on commercial transactions like rent payment.

The Embassy was located at:
826 - 830 Government Avenue
Eastwood, Pretoria. 0083
Gauteng - South Africa
