Ecuador and Haiti flags

Here is a picture of both Ecuador and Haiti flags.

The flags of Haiti and Ecuador will flutter together. They have a relationship built on cooperation. Since the last visit of Haitian President Martelly to Ecuador to meet Ecuadoran president Rafael Correa in July 2012, the two brotherly states have deepened their bilateral relations and cooperation in areas such as health, education, migration, technology, air transport and infrastructure. During their meet, the Ecuadoran president warned President Martelly against neocolonialism and the need for increased regional integration. Ecuador has extended its support to rebuild L'Artibonite area devastated by the 2010 earthquake. Both of these two nations are affiliated with ALBA (Bolivarian Alliance for the Americas) where Ecuador is a core member, and Haiti is an observer state. A little known fact about the Haitian flag should be worthwhile to mention here that it was only in the 1936 Olympics, people realized that Haiti and Lichtenstein shares just the same flag! In the next year, a crown was added to the Lichtenstein flag.

Canada interference in Haitian affairs

Canada interference in Haitian affairs

History of Canada interference in Haitian affairs.

On March 1, 2016, Concertation pour Haiti (Consensus for Haiti) asked Canada not to interfere in Haitian affairs. CPH (founded in 1994) is a grouping of civil society and individual members from Quebec that works to promote human rights and fundamental freedoms in Haiti. It reiterates its support for the Haitian population in crisis. In a note, the CPH has questioned on the involvement of the International Community in Haiti and has called for the respect of each country's national sovereignty. It has requested the Canadian government not to interfere in the ongoing electoral process. The Haitian population must be given the opportunity to determine their own affair without any external intervention. We might remember the initiatives taken by Canada, the U.S and France in 2004 which toppled the government of democratically elected President Aristide.

This is a picture of a Haitian child taken by one of the Non-Profit Organizations in Haiti to raise money for their own benefits.

Does that benefit the Haitians who are in need or the NGOs or religious organizations? Although many International organizations who go to Haiti are there for good reasons, some of them use haiti as an opportunity of a life time to make a lot of money, unregulated by anyone.

UN, Ambassador Edmond Mulet and President Michel Martelly

PeaceOn September 25, 2014, Edmond Mulet, the Assistant Secretary-General for Peacekeeping Operations at the United Nations and the former Special Representative of the Secretary General of the UN and Head of the MINUSTAH has praised the Haitian President Michel Martelly for the significant progresses he has made in Haiti during Martelly / Lamothe regime.

The Martelly's team is honest, very engaged and committed to their country. The only weakness is that President Martelly doesn't have a political party-- to back him in parliament. His base is really the population at large. He was satisfied with the level of security management system in Haiti and urged the Haitian Senate to take steps to hold parliamentary and local elections at the earliest opportunity. Edmond Mulet is a former Guatemalan politician and diplomat. He first came to Haiti in June 2006.
