President Michel Martelly's interest in Côtes-de-Fer stems from his father having originated from there. Last year, he traveled there to celebrate with the residents and push the decentralization of the area. His visit saw him speaking with inhabitants from different sections of Côtes-de-Fer like, Laborieux and Mayette. He laid out plans to bring electricity and set up infrastructure including hill lakes. These additions would be made on top of work already done including a church restoration and the installation of street lights.

For entertainment, residents of Côtes-de-Fer turn to their sport of choice, football. Played by every child and argued over by every adult, the sport is more than a national pastime in the town. They also go to theater festivals and cinema theatres as a means of entertainment. A high point is the feast of the patron saints. It affords residents the means of interacting with friends and provides an outlet for the arts, culture and sports. Even the natural beauty of the surroundings is entertaining.

An unexpected treat when visiting Côtes-de-Fer is the secluded and beautiful Coby Beach Resort. A historic tourist site, the resort, while it is not complete, is open for business. Speckled with almond and coconut trees, the white sand beach is ideal for long walks at any time of the day. If a walk in the sand is not to your liking, their natural garden can be an ideal substitute.
