Haitian-American Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) in Haiti
The Haitian-American violinist and conductor Daniel Bernard Roumain will be in Haiti on this weekend for a concert. He will be spending about a week in the country to work on an upcoming music album with Emeline Michel.
Although Daniel Bernard Roumain is an artist of international renown, he has not been so popular in Haiti or among Haitians. Known mainly under the label of DBR, he is a skilled composer, performer, violinist, and band-leader. DBR is especially known for blending funk, rock, hip-hop and classical music.
Daniel Bernard Roumain was born in the United States of Haitian parents. He attended Dillard Center for the Arts in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, received an undergraduate degree from Vanderbilt University's Blair School of Music and a doctorate in musical composition from the University of Michigan.
Professor and Konakom Political leader Jean-Claude Bajeux is Dead
The activist and leader of the political party Konakom Jean-Claude Bajeux passed away. In 1964, Jean-Claude Bajeux went into exile under the Duvalier regime. He was the leader of the political party Konakom and a supporter of former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide. Crowd in Cap-Haitian threw stones and bottles at Michel Martelly
The Haitian president did not receive the red carpet in Cap-Haitian. It is reported that during his visit in cap-Haitian, Michel Martelly was faced with a crowd that trew stones and rock at him.
The president was not hurt and the report indicated that several arrests were made as a result of the incident.
