U.N. climate conference and Haiti
Sean Penn to Make Haiti a Model of Forestation with "Here Come the Trees"
During the latest climate conference in Paris, Sean Penn, the American actor and founder of 'Jenkins-Penn Haitian Relief Organization', has invited world leaders to help preserve the forests of the world. Of the many countries in the world susceptible to risks from the effects of climate change and human induced hazards, Haiti is one among the most vulnerable nations exposed to threats of sea level rising and fragile ecosystem and a regular victim of flooding, droughts, landslides, hurricanes and earthquakes. With limited institutional capacity, it is exposed to the direct impacts of climate change. Penn wants to make Haiti 'a model of reforestation' through a 10-year plan. On September 30, 2015, the Republic of Haiti has submitted its new climate action plan to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). 'Intended Nationally Determined Contribution' (INDC) promise has been submitted by 114 nations before the U.N. climate conference in Paris on December 11, 2015. The Paris agreement will come into effect in 2020.
New York Times has spoken on Haiti Election
Finally a major American Newspaper has called for legitimate election in Haiti, following the October 2015 election in Haiti. New York Times has spoken on Haiti Election, calling it a failure and that Haitians deserve better.
The New York Times (NYT), the New York City based U.S newspaper is of opinion that the October election in Haiti, to choose a successor to President Michel Martelly, has been marred by so much ballot tampering, illegal voting and other abuses that it could be denounced as 'illegitimate'. The sentiments of the 53 of the 54 contesting candidates together with the reactions of the independent election observers, human-rights groups, ordinary citizens, Haitian diaspora organizations and the religious leaders were demonstrated through the continued angry, often violent protests on the Haitian streets. As per the report, the second place winner Jude Celestin has said, the October election and its consequential results were "ridiculous farce". The country is again scheduled to go for a final runoff election on December 27th, 2015.
A credible election, as per internationally agreed normative base is an election, which would give every citizen an equal opportunity to vote, compete and be elected , without any discrimination with the participation of all qualified political parties. It must reflect the will of the people. The entire process should be transparent and each step should be open to security and trusted by the citizens. The principle of transparency is linked to the fundamental right of citizens.
As per the NYT news report, the Provisional Electoral Council, issued 900,000 accreditation cards to the representatives of political parties to oversee and ensure transparency in the electoral process, but in reality, those cards gave access to enter the polling centers and cast false votes.
On December 17, 2015, a signed petition of over 100,000 protesters has been posted on the website of the White House requesting President Obama to stop supporting Martelly and issue a statement in support of the petitioners demanding the formation of an inquiry committee to inquire about the alleged frauds affecting the integrity of the October 25, 2015 election.

Who is Henri Christophe?
He was Provisional Chief of the Haitian Government from October 17, 1806 to February 17, 1807. He became Governor-General for Life of Saint-Domingue from July 7, 1801 to May 6,1802.
Born on the island of Grenada, Henri Christopher was a slave, a cabin boy in British territory that was sold to French ships, and finally a king.
In March 1811, Henri became the official crowned King of Haiti to rule the Northern area. He was a good administrator who created an atmosphere of work, discipline and introduced a system of education in his empire. In his kingdom, he took a series of good administrative measures and put nobility in an order. He had 14 knights, 39 barons, and 22 counts, 4 princes, and seven dukes. He built the Citadel Laférrière, to prevent any comeback of the French. He propagated the idea of exodus for the U.S slaves and blacks to settle in Haiti which was further carried on by his successor Jean-Pierre Boyer and Emperor Faustin Soulouque and Fabre Nicolas Geffrard. He is credited with the creation of the magnificent royal residence San Souci (where he died), established an aristocracy, and created a court which was as elegant and lavish to the contemporary European courts.
In August 1820, he was physically paralyzed by a stroke, could not face a military rebellion that sparked on October 2, 1820, and committed suicide within a few days. The facts of Christophe's early life are questionable and confused; there is a confusion over his exact year of birth between 1757 and 1767.
Who will be the next president of Haiti?
As Michel Martelly getting ready to leave office, many are asking one question: who will replace him either temporarily or permanently?. Who will have this heavy task to put things in order. So far, the three most likely candidates are: 1) the current judge of the Court of Cassation Jules Cantave, 2) the president of the Senate Jocelerme Privert 3) the actual Defacto Prime Minister Evans Paul.
On the other side, I also know that based on interest, many people would see it differently. Do you see it the same way i do? Do you see something evolving that i have not seen yet?
Do you have any suggestion?
