Year 2013 as Year of the Environment and Agriculture

In 2013, President Michel Martelly proposed at the Independence Day celebrations that 2013 is to be dedicated as the year of environment and agriculture. The Haitian president made the promise that he wants Haiti to depend on itself for at least 70 percent of the food consumed in the country. He insisted that the environment will be one of his top priorities for the remaining years in office.

Among his priorities related to the environment, President Michel Martelly wants to reduce the environmental vulnerability of Haiti to natural disasters as well as boost agricultural production to reduce dependence on food from outside the country

The president wants each and every Haitian Haitian to plant at least one tree as civic contribution to a better resistance to natural disasters.

To commemorate the 209th anniversary of Haiti's independence in his official speech in Gonaives, the Haitian President said that the founding fathers signed the national independence, he is calling on Haitians to come together to rehabilitate the country's environment.

Sunrise Airways and Tourism in Cap Haitien Haiti

Sunrise Airways has submitted an application to ferry passengers between Providenciales and Cap Haitien International Airports. The airline intends to use for its flights Jetstream 19-passenger seat turbine-engine airliner.

If no objections are made to the application, it will proceed through the review process and sign-offs more quickly. Sunrise Airways wants to provide six flights a week between Providenciales and Cap Haitien International Airport from Monday through Saturday.

This airport is in Cap-Haitian is considered to be the second largest airport in Haiti after Toussaint L'Ouverture Airport in Port-au-Prince.

It has been reported that the Dominican President Danilo Medina has made some threats as a result of the decision of the Haitian government to ban the import of Dominican chickens and eggs to avoid the propagation of H5N2, or bird flu. Medina said that he would take "drastic measures" to resolve the issue of the ban on Dominican chickens and eggs by the Haitian government. There are no valid reason for the ban as it was confirmed by Pan American Health Organization (PAHO)

Macaroni au Gratin, Haitian Style

Macaroni au Gratin, Haitian Style

Ingredients: 1.5 (16 oz) macaroni packages, 1 whole onion, diced, chicken broth cubes, cheese block, cut into small cubes, 1 carnation milk, 1/2 cup of butter and 1 cup of parmesan cheese.

Have a large pot of water to boil over high heat. Add the macaroni. Add the onions and Maggi chicken broth as the macaroni gets soft yet firm. Then, you need to reduce heat and keep stirring occasionally. Add the cheese, until melted. It is extremely important to keep stirring constantly to avoid the cheese from sticking to the bottom. After a while, add butter and cheese. Then, pour in the carnation milk and stir. Remove from heat and pour into a greased baking sheet. With oven at about 300 degrees, place in oven and bake for an hour.

Here is an easy way to make Haitian Kremas: Ingredients meat of 2 coconuts, milk, cans of condensed milk, cans of evaporated milk, sugar, vanilla, Zest of a lime. Also don't forget real Haitian liquor or 153 proof if you cant find it

What do you need in order to make a jar of Pikliz: You need on hand Cabbage, carrots, chiles and other vegetables soaked in vinegar. Add Cabbage, shredded, Carrots, peeled and chopped into small pieces or grated, Onion, Scotch bonnet peppers, Garlic cloves, Salt, Peppercorns and White or cane vinegar.

This crunchy salad is served as a side dish in Haitian meals.

How to makr Haitian Marinades. Stir water into flour to make batter. Mix in chilies, parsley, and baking powder. then, add chicken and salt. Spoon dollops of batter into hot oil, turning them until brown.
To prepare Vegetarian Marinade using a blender. Blend water, shallot, onion, garlic, scallion, parsley, and Adobo. In mixing bowl add rest of ingredients plus blended ingredients to make batter.
